About Monique

Monique Brizz-Walker is the founder of Event Strategies For Success®, a boutique consultancy known for designing curated fundraising experiences that elevate nonprofits, deepen donor relationships, and strengthen communities. With more than 30 years of leadership across philanthropy, events, and institutional advancement, Monique has helped mission-driven organizations raise over $25 million through high-touch experiences grounded in purpose, equity, and excellence.

Her work is informed by the quiet strength of legacy—what she calls “quiet wealth”—the discreet but powerful giving networks that shape communities behind the scenes. That perspective was formed early in her career within cultural institutions, including the Brooklyn Museum, and deepened through her role as Director of Special Events at the American Folk Art Museum during its West 53rd Street expansion (inaugurated December 11, 2001).

Working in partnership with trustees and senior leadership, she helped strengthen event and earned-revenue strategy through practical systems—rental policy development, catering operations oversight, and partner selection—while supporting opening-week celebrations and major fundraising in a high-visibility New York moment.

Over time, Monique brought the same rigor and stakeholder care to social-impact leadership and mission-forward institutions, including the Central Park Conservancy, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the American Foundation for The University of the West Indies, and the Metropolitan Black Bar Association—developing campaigns and experiences designed to inspire connection and deliver measurable results.

Today, Monique advises nonprofit executives and leadership teams to:

  • build sustainable fundraising infrastructure that supports signature events year after year;
  • integrate high-impact events into donor engagement and stewardship pathways; and
  • revitalize legacy events to achieve six- and seven-figure outcomes.

Recognized as a recipient of the 2025 Brooklyn Power List award and a 2024 Power Women of Brooklyn honoree, Monique’s influence extends beyond fundraising strategy. Her work with the Bed-Stuy Gateway BID helped secure resources for small businesses navigating gentrification and pandemic-related challenges.

She has served in community leadership and board roles supporting organizations committed to equity, stability, and neighborhood wellbeing—including Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center’s Community Leadership Council, the Brooklyn Community Foundation’s Advisory Fund, and Age Friendly Central Brooklyn, where she was elected Vice President of the Board in 2025.

Monique lives in Brooklyn with her husband of 38 years, Stan E. Walker, a respected principal and lifelong educator in NYC’s public school system.
